Hi Trevor & Maria,
It's here! Your final Open Plan Kitchen, Dining and Living Room design is ready to view!
We've loved working on this space and to accompany your room design we've included a design narrative below which explains how the concept works as a whole - check it out!
Your shopping list:
As you are aware, as part of the free personal shopping service you have the option of ordering your items directly through us by adding them to your shopping basket. This is particularly helpful if you are ordering from numerous retailers as you only have to add your details once and our personal shopping team will sort the rest!
You’ll see that we’ve included a number of alternatives at different price points for each category in your shopping list, just click 'alternatives' to reveal these. You can then click the arrows to move the different products in and out of your shopping list, so have a play with different combinations. You’ll also see that the overall price at the bottom will update accordingly.
There are a small selection of retailers who only deliver directly to the account holder therefore we are unable to offer as part of our personal shopping service. If you do select anything from these retailers there is a handy link on the product which takes you to the retailers' site for you to purchase directly.
Please bear in mind that items can go out of stock quickly, so if you really love certain items it is best to purchase those first. However your shopping list will stay open as long as you like, so you can purchase the key pieces first and then add to them whenever you are ready.
Design Narrative:
As you walk in your new Open Plan Kitchen, Living & Dining room you and your guests will first set eyes on the new chairs that adorn your existing wooden dining table. We have picked out a cool grey tone for the chairs which are fully upholstered for your comfort. We love the fact that these chairs have a swivel function too which adds a playfulness to the area. Unfortunately these chairs aren't available until February, but we feel that they are worth the wait for sure! If you would rather not wait then we have added some other fantastic options in the alternatives section of your shopping list.
We have also added another idea for your chairs if you were to change the dining table further down the line and that would be to add in some mustard accent chairs to either end of the table. This would work beautifully to add a pop of warmth to the area and would tie in nicely with the other accents throughout the room. However, the mustard may not work so well with the existing wooden table so if you were considering changing your dining table in time, to a statement black timber for example, then it would look fab. Something to think about and consider for the future maybe. This has obviously pushed the cost of the room up quite a bit on the shopping list, so please be aware of this when looking at the overall figure.
Above the dining table we have allowed for a 3 pendant nickel feature light which will create a focal point to the room whilst giving you some good task lighting for the table. The simple, slightly industrial design works well against the plush finish of the upholstered dining chairs.
We have finished the dining area off by adding a new rug to help to zone this area. The simple gradient pattern of the rug in muted tones works really well to add colour to this area, whilst picking up the tones of blue that can be seen throughout the room.
Behind the dining table we have created further drama by adding in a couple of floor standing plants. The Bird of Paradise plant and Weeping Fig will add a lush botanical feel to the room which will lead the eye perfectly onto the garden. To the opposite side of your garden doors we have allowed for some simple, coat hooks. The minimalist, button like design of these hooks helps them feel less utilitarian in the space but will provide a great spot to hang your coats.
To further soften this area we have allowed for new contemporary wave curtains. This clean style will allow the curtains to look modern whilst adding warmth to the room. We have opted for a warm stone and subtle grey palette of fabrics so feel free to get some samples sent through and see what you think.
The real change will be in the living area, which we are super excited about! We feel that this area will work well to give you the family space you need whilst still creating a beautiful vista. To create this look we have added in a fab new corner sofa in navy smart cotton. The corner sofa will give you the space you need to relax together. The smart cotton fabric is hard wearing and easy to clean so your sofa will look better for longer. This sofa is also available in a navy smart velvet if you would prefer a deeper pile feel overall. To the sofa we have added your favourite bee embroidered cushion which pops beautifully against the navy colour. We have then added a selection of cushions in grey, navy and grey-blue to add warmth and interest.
We have sourced an ottoman that perfectly coordinates with your beautiful new sofa, again in the navy smart cotton, this ottoman can double up as a foot rest or you could add a tray to create a plush coffee table. To tie in the space an provide you a spot to rest drinks, we have proposed a beautiful new timber side table with a slatted lower shelf. We have added some other storage options in the alternatives section of the shopping list for you to also consider.
Below the sofa we have allowed for a feature berber rug. This on trend rug will not only anchor the sofa to the living space but it will add warmth and a cosy feel, just perfect for snuggling up and watching a movie on a chilly day.
Regarding the lighting in the living area, we think the best approach would be to remove the existing pendant light and replace with a recessed downlight so you have task lighting if you need it. But more importantly in this area we would like to achieve a layered lighting scheme using a floor lamp and a table lamp that would be situated on your new side table. You guys can then make this area much more softly lit if required and control how much light you would like depending on your situation.
Alongside your existing TV unit, to finish the vista we have added a montage frame with space for plenty of photos of your gorgeous family and another floor standing plant. The palm will tie in well with your plants in the dining area and the photo montage adds a personal touch to the walls.
Talking of walls we almost forgot to mention the new wall colour! We have opted for Neptune, Alpine a beautiful light blue/ green shade that has a hint of grey. It really is the most individual of colours. We think using this soft, Nordic inspired shade throughout the space will tie this room together nicely and will give it a splash of understated colour that will work for years to come.
We have really enjoyed working on your design. Once you have digested it all please get in touch and tell us what you think!
Please feel free to ask us if you have any queries about your room design or shopping list. Enjoy!
Warm wishes,
Emma & Harriet.
