Hi Peta & Karl,
It's here! Your final Rear Living Room design is ready to view!
We've loved working on this space and to accompany your room design we've included a design narrative below which explains how the concept works as a whole - check it out!
Your shopping list:
As part of the free personal shopping service you have the option of ordering your items directly through us by adding them to your shopping basket. This is particularly helpful if you are ordering from numerous retailers as you only have to add your details once and our personal shopping team will sort the rest!
You’ll see that we’ve included a number of alternatives at different price points for each category in your shopping list, just click 'alternatives' to reveal these. You can then click the arrows to move the different products in and out of your shopping list, so have a play with different combinations. You’ll also see that the overall price at the bottom will update accordingly.
There are a small selection of retailers who only deliver directly to the account holder therefore we are unable to offer as part of our personal shopping service. If you do select anything from these retailers there is a handy link on the product which takes you to the retailers' site for you to purchase directly.
Please bear in mind that items can go out of stock quickly, so if you really love certain items it is best to purchase those first. However your shopping list will stay open as long as you like, so you can purchase the key pieces first and then add to them whenever you are ready.
Design Narrative:
As you enter the Rear Living Room you will be drawn to the new sideboard situated to the right hand side of the fireplace. The sideboard adds a contemporary edge to the room with its slatted wood clad doors, but sits well within the room itself due to its dark warm wood tones and black marble top which reflect the floor and fireplace perfectly. We have taken the liberty to add in a matching TV stand to your design- feel free to disregard this but we felt that it really complemented the space either side of the fireplace without it feeling too overly designed.
Sitting on your new sideboard we have positioned an amazing print from Anthropologie- with its bold abstract design and generous size it demands attention and will draw guests into the room from the kitchen. The navy tones pick up the sofa colour as well as accessories throughout the room with the same colourway.
The print is framed with a large table lamp and vase. The table lamp, in the style of a Chinese ginger jar with a distressed finish, is a nod to traditional oriental designs which play out in your existing rug. The ceramic vase with faux planting adds some height to the space with simple elegance. This area is finished off perfectly with a mustard Stoneware Leaf Vase which adds playful colour to the vista.
To the left of the sideboard you will see your stunning fireplace. As discussed, we propose to repurpose your existing mirror from the Front Living Room to give it a new lease of life in the Rear Living Area. We have added just a few details to soften the fireplace slightly such as a ginger jar to reflect the table lamp and a collection of curved vases and candleholders which give an organic feel and reflect the more relaxed of the two living rooms.
To the existing sofas we have added in some plain cushions in terracotta, navy and old gold plus a stunning Liberty cushion to add pattern and vibrancy to the scheme. The seating area is finished off with a beautiful Missoni throw- with its loosely woven textured design in a palette of reds and blues it adds comfort to the sofas- perfect for snuggling up and watching a movie!
Above your existing leather sofa we have allowed for a new feature gallery wall. This is made up of a mixture of repurposed existing pieces, artworks and prints. We have tied the artwork in with the colourway of your existing rug to help blend the area and add a feeling of cohesion.
To the left of your leather sofa you will see a new floor lamp for Karl's reading spot. We have opted for a fun warm dotty design on a soft cotton shade to add some extra joy to the room!
To the window elevation you will see your existing armchairs, finished off with some playful patterned and animal hair cushions. The addition of a leafy plant will add a natural botanical feel to the vista.
Finally to replace your existing glass display cabinet we have opted for a showstopper piece. With its distressed painted antique brass finish it adds a vintage and timeless feel to the room and will be a conversation piece for sure!
We have really enjoyed working on your design. Once you have digested it all please get in touch and tell us what you think!
Your two week post-design support starts now! So please feel free to ask us if you have any queries about your room design. Enjoy!
Warm wishes,
Emma & Harriet.
