Hi Michael & Dan,
It's here! Your final Open Plan Living & Dining Room design is ready to view.
We've loved working on this space and to accompany your room design we've included a design narrative below which explains how the concept works as a whole - check it out!
Your shopping list:
As part of the free personal shopping service you have the option of ordering your items directly through us by adding them to your shopping basket. This is particularly helpful if you are ordering from numerous retailers as you only have to add your details once and our personal shopping team will sort the rest!
You’ll see that we’ve included a number of alternatives at different price points for each category in your shopping list, just click 'alternatives' to reveal these. You can then click the arrows to move the different products in and out of your shopping list, so have a play with different combinations. You’ll also see that the overall price at the bottom will update accordingly.
There are a small selection of retailers who only deliver directly to the account holder therefore we are unable to offer as part of our personal shopping service. If you do select anything from these retailers there is a handy link on the product which takes you to the retailers' site for you to purchase directly.
Please bear in mind that items can go out of stock quickly, so if you really love certain items it is best to purchase those first. However your shopping list will stay open as long as you like, so you can purchase the key pieces first and then add to them whenever you are ready.
Design Narrative:
On entering your newly refreshed Living & Dining Room your eyes will be drawn to the new feature wallpaper that adorns the fireplace wall. The wallpaper has a beautiful navy background with delicate gold lines that form to give the paper an Art Deco feel. The wallpaper also creates a pop of contrast between the wall and your existing stone fireplace which adds interest to this vista.
The rest of the walls are to be painted Farrow & Ball, Salt, which is a cool grey white, allowing plenty of light to bounce into the room.
We would always suggest it is wise to get samples of both the wallpaper and the paint before application and always allow for paint samples to be positioned on many walls so you can see how it looks in shade and full sunlight, as well as daytime and at night.
We have dressed your existing fireplace with a simple rectangular mirror with curved edges and a beautiful brushed brass rim. To dress the mantelpiece, we have allowed for a selection of vases, all finished in black or gold which ties in nicely with other elements throughout the room. We have also added a faux palm spray to the largest vase to add a touch of drama and glamour. Within the fireplace itself we know you are keen on painting it dark so we suggest painting it Farrow and Ball, Railings. For a focal point to your fireplace hearth we have proposed a multi pillar candle holder. The candle holder is constructed of iron with an antiqued brass finish and will hold a plethora of candles. This will be a fab statement piece for your fireplace and will add both drama for evenings dining with friends as well as adding comfort for cosy nights in.
To the right hand side of the fireplace you will see your new record player stand. This veneered walnut cabinet has plenty of space for record storage whilst giving you enough room to sit your record player on top. The back panels add a pop of teal which adds to the playful nature of this piece.
There is also plenty of room above the record player to allow for your wall hung television. We suggest hanging it on the fireplace wall so it can sit out of the way when you are playing records. If you fit it with an extendable arm then it can easily be pulled further into the room to create a better vantage point from your sofa when curling up and watching a movie.
To the right of the record player you will see your new shutter blinds that will be fitted to both your windows and your French doors. These will give you control on how much light comes in on sunny days as well as adding a sophistication to the space.
To the left hand side of the fireplace you will see your new feature bar cart which is a collaborative piece from John Lewis & Swoon. It has a refined industrial look with a matt black finished frame and brass capped legs and will look just as delicious as all of the drinks that will be displayed on it! Sadly this bar cart is out of stock at John Lewis but we think it’s a piece that’s worth waiting for.
Next to the bar cart you will see your existing sofa nestled in place between two showstopper side tables! The tables have an unusual honeycomb design that are finished with gold leaf. They are totally wild and fun and will be a conversation piece when guests descend for sure!
Sitting on top of the side tables are new matching table lamps. With their black velvet base, gold metallic detailing and simple black linen shade they are a perfect mix of sophistication and glamour and work well to create a layered lighting scheme for your living area.
To your sofa we have added just a few cheeky cushions! We know you mentioned that you have more than enough already but we loved the idea of tying in the teal from the new record stand and the yellow from your existing footstools!
Above the sofa you will see a trio of prints, all finished with black framing. The abstract prints include colours such as black, gold, grey and blue which feature in your room design and add to the luxe feel in the room.
Underfoot you will see a new rug which will sit in front of the sofa, giving you comfort to your living space and allowing for some gentle zoning of areas. We loved the simplicity of this grey rug as it works well to balance out the design features within the room whilst giving a feeling of understated elegance.
Throughout the living and dining room we have allowed for new chevron engineered timber flooring. We have opted for a darker tone that works well with the wallpaper and furniture choices and the chevron pattern adds character and interest. Again, we would recommend obtaining wood samples before purchasing and we are happy to recommend a fitter if required.
Moving onto your dining area, we have added in your preferred option which is a gorgeous extendable table. The table is made from solid oak with a dark stain. We love its tapered boomerang legs which adds interest, whilst its ability to extend from 6 to 8 people makes it a piece that you will keep for years to come. The table’s oval shape also helps to create space within the room and softens the overall appearance of the table.
The dining table is completed with new chairs in a black velvet finish. The chairs work well with the rest of the interior, with their black legs and gold detailing. The sculpted open backrest adds an interesting contour to the chairs whilst the velvet finish gives a feeling of luxe for your fellow diners to enjoy.
Behind the dining table will be your existing wine rack and on the wall behind the table you will see a new feature artwork piece. This piece really spoke to us- with its teal and gold concave discs it has an air of art deco elegance about it. Another conversation piece for sure!
We have really enjoyed working on your design. Once you have digested it all please get in touch and tell us what you think.
Your three week post-design support starts now! So please feel free to ask us if you have any queries about your room design. Enjoy!
Warm wishes,
Emma & Harriet.
